SLC Field Trip

While I was serving as the Young Women's President, I got to be really good friends with the Young Men's President. We had discussed taking the youth to the Salt Lake City cemetery where most of the Presidents of the Church have been buried. We never did make that activity happen while we were both still serving in those callings, so it made me very happy to be able to take my family with his family (who are our really great friends) and go to Salt Lake for the day on a little field trip.

We visited the Joseph Smith Memorial building first and watched the church film on Joseph Smith. Then we had lunch at the Lion House Pantry. After lunch, we visited the grave sites of Heber C. Kimball and Brigham Young (and family), which are in Salt Lake city, but not at the cemetery. I couldn't believe how big that cemetery is. We were exhausted after walking all around there visiting the many headstones of the Prophets and other familiar people. It was awesome to think about each of them and the role they played in the history of the church and to learn new things about them and to share things with our families.

It was especially cool for us to visit the grave of Orrin Porter Rockwell because we had read a book about his life together as a family this summer.

Thanks for a great day friends.. we had a wonderful time!!
