{third grade science fair}

B had his science fair this week at school. For his experiment he decided to test an egg's shell. His older brothers had told him that if you soak an egg in vinegar, the acid in the vinegar will break down the egg shell.. it totally works! It was awesome. He soaked three eggs in vinegar for a couple of days, and then we had to rinse the rest of the shell off with water. The membrane was still there, and the egg looked like this:

After the shell was removed, he soaked each of the eggs in something different to see what would happen. He soaked one in water, one in salt water, and the other in corn syrup. The two that were soaked in water absorbed the water and got bigger. The water was able to move through the egg's membrane to the inside of the egg. The egg soaked in corn syrup shrunk. The water that was inside the egg moved through the membrane to the outside of the egg. It was a really cool experiment, and B had a lot of fun showing his class and making a display for the whole school to see. He even got an awesome grade on his project! Good job B!!
