{Uh oh!!}

B had an accident. He was at ball practice, playing shortstop, and the ball was hit to him. It took a bad bounce, and B got it right in the mouth! His teeth went right up into his bottom lip. Lucky us, it happened right around 5:30 pm, so the doctor's office was closed, and he got to visit the ER. Fortunately he only had to get one stitch put in, but they had to give him a shot right in the flap of skin that they were sewing down (gross). This was B's first time having stitches (a stitch), so he was pretty nervous. But he was tough, and he made it through it. He has put his teeth THROUGH his bottom lip before, but that time, they just glued it shut from the outside. This was kind of a weird cut, a big flap inside the mouth.. they didn't want to just leave it, or he would always have a piece of skin sticking up inside his bottom lip. They also didn't want to stitch it too tight because they wanted it to be able to drain so that they didn't trap any infection in it. That's why they decided to do only one stitch. I trust they made the right choice.

Unfortunately, today he had a field trip, swimming at the Nat with the whole third grade, and the doctor told him he shouldn't go. He was really bummed. I just kept him home for the first part of the day, then took him to school for the afternoon to do the other activities that he could do. This is what he looked like today:
