There were a couple of sea lions just swimming out in the bay as we got in to Ensanada. .
Because Buster and Layne could speak Spanish so well, we let them get us a van to take us to La Bufadora (the blowhole). Buster hired Pedro for $15 per person to take us anywhere we wanted to go for the day and return us to the port. For $150 Pedro drove us down to La Bufadora and waited there for us. When we got out of the van, there was a vendor selling coconuts. Shane bought one, and the mexican cut it and put a straw in it so we could drink the milk inside. It was not what I expected. . not very sweet, and warm. We walked the street down to the blowhole. It was lined with lots of vendors that were willing to make deals to sell us anything. We had so much fun just bartering and shopping. Shane and Buster got cowboy hats on the way down, and Cory got one on the way back. Katie, Tiffani and I got knock-off Gucci purses and wallets. We had fun. . the mexicans didn't want us to walk off without buying, so they would usually come down to pretty cheap.
This is La Bufadora. It was bad timing for us. It was low tide, so La Bufadora wasn't very big. But it was interesting. It would be amazing to see at high tide.
Here's our group again at La Bufadora. . Chris and Arlene took an excursion along the Gold Coast, so they weren't with us. They went to the other side of Ensanada.
(Summers, Marbles, Newmans, Bodilys, Christensens)
This is a photo I took from the van as Pedro was driving us back into the city. It's kinda sad for us to see the way that some of these people live. But they don't know any different, I guess.
Before getting back on the ship, we had to go through customs in Ensanada. Cory had bought a switch-blade knife, and we were sure that they weren't going to let him take it back on the ship. The funny thing is, he went right through, and they stopped us to take away some toy sling shots that we had bought for the boys. They also took a sling shot away from the Summers' and a bull whip from Jed. Who knew sling shots and bull whips were more dangerous than a switch-blade knife??
