weekend tournament. .

What a weekend! R & R played baseball this weekend in Pocatello. They had four games, and they finished 2-2. The first game on Fri, they looked like a team that's never played before. *wink* Sometimes a kid will have a bad game. . but every kid on the team had a bad game at the same time. I don't know if I've ever marked so many errors in the scorebook for one game. It was sad. 18-0 kind of sad. But the next game, they must have been warmed up, because they looked like a totally different team. It was snowing and very, very cold. . maybe that made the difference. We, as spectators, just wanted the game to end. They played a great game despite the temperature and very cold hands.

Saturday's games were altogether much better. The weather had warmed up, the sun was out, and the boys were ready to play. The twelve o'clock game was a tough one. The other team played very aggressively on the bases and earned every run they got. Their offense was unbelievable. . a great thing for our little Bear River team to see. It was a legitimate loss for Bear River. . they played well, but just couldn't catch the Hornets.

The second and last game of the weekend was a great note to end on. The boys played well, and most of them got some really nice hits. Tournaments are great learning experiences. When they have four games back-to-back like that, things really sink in.

May is a busy month for baseball. The boys practice twice a week, have two games every Saturday for the RMSB Super League, and one or two games on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Roy. Last year, they went undefeated in Roy and took first place in their division. . so they're trying to defend their title. So far, so good. They haven't lost yet, but their first game was rained out, so they'll have to make that one up. And this week it looks like they play a couple of harder teams, so we'll see what happens.

It's so fun to watch these boys play baseball. . improving, growing, developing relationships. They're a great little team, and every one of the boys on our team has a great family that teaches good values. It's so comforting for my boys to grow up with such a great baseball "family". I hope that these boys will be able to stay close and keep the great friendships that they have now. It's a good bunch of boys. (Hopefully they'll keep each other out of trouble.)
